The Santa Ana Unified School District Police Department deploys a contingent of patrol officrs in four geographical areas within the City of Santa Ana, protecting students, staff, and assets at its 61 school and District facility sites.  Patrol officers provide 24 hour, seven days a week coverage to leverage our protective uniformed policing presence of School Resource Officers.  As a specialized police department within the law enforcement community, the Santa Ana School Police Department provides unique training to police officers to effectively deliver responsive policing services in a school environment.

Within a deep rooted Community Oriented Policing framework, combined with responsive, pro-active traditional police efforts, patrol officers are vital service providers for protecting life and property within the School District and the Santa Ana community.  Patrol officers work closely with members of other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.  Enhancing our inter-operability strategy, patrol officers work particularly close with the City of Santa Ana Police Department patrol officers on a variety of mutual field responses.  Patrol officers from both departments have been recognized for their effectiveness in working collaboratively to resolve calls for service and developing substantive criminal intelligence for follow-up case resolution.

Santa Ana School Police Officers also conduct public relations programs and functions in the community, such as bullying presentations, bicycle safety programs, alcohol/drug prevention outreach and gang resistance through the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership (GRIP) program.  For further information on the GRIP program, please contact Sergeant Hill / Sergeant Harris at (714) 558-5535.
