    Mission Statement
     
    The Santa Ana Unified School District Health Services program is a group of highly dedicated professionals working in collaboration with staff, families and community, to optimize the learning capacity of school children.  As part of the Coordinated School Health Program, Health Services works to promote health, prevent disease, and manage health concerns so children come to school ready to learn.
     
     
     
    The SAUSD Nurses provide the following services:
    • Care for students or staff with medical emergencies.
    • Perform mandated screenings for vision, color vision and hearing.
    • Identify and manage health conditions which may interfere with learning.
    • Serve on teams to discuss special health and educational needs.
    • Manage the prevention and control of contagious diseases.
    • Coordinate referrals to community and school based agencies.
    • Assist parents with access and utilization of the health care system.
    • Provide crisis intervention.
    • Educate staff about medical conditions and concerns.
    • Supervise staff in medication administration and performance of special procedures.
    • Participate in disaster preparedness.
    • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and health care providers.
    • Promote wellness, healthy life styles, and illness prevention.
