Student Teachers, Interns, Observers
Requirements & Forms
Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) welcomes student teachers, observers, and interns/trainees to our campuses, who are seeking an opportunity to gain invaluable experience. We are excited about the contributions you will make to our schools during your time with us.
As a responsible institution committed to the safety and well-being of our students, we have established certain requirements that must be met before you can commence your training and enter our campuses / sites. See below for further details.
For interns/trainees or student teachers in a graduate program that has an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Santa Ana Unified School District, please refer to the appropriate contact person below based on your program.
-
Mandatory Signed Waiver
For all other undergraduate programs or independent interns/observers (without an MOU), Click Here to access and sign the Assumption of Risk, Release of Liability, and Boundaries Agreement to initiate the request. This waiver must be signed and submitted to the school administrator.
Other Requirements
- Student teachers, observers, and interns/trainees will be required to Raptor* daily on days of observation. *Raptor is a visitor management system, which allows our schools to screen visitors or non-employees that enter their campus.
- The approved student teacher, observer, or intern/trainee will be supervised at all times by an SAUSD or school employee. NO ONE-ON-ONE with students is allowed.
- Request for Professional Services (i.e. student observations as part of an IEP / assessment) - These professionals may require a Memorandum of Understanding agreement (MOU), an agreement, or contract in place with the SAUSD, which will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Contact our department for information.
