    Proud leader who oversees a dynamic team responsible for leading district-wide initiatives such as Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to develop positive school climate and implement progressive school discipline and interventions within 56 school sites which have resulted in an 91% reduction in expulsions – over five years and a 79% reduction in student suspensions. Focus on attendance has resulted in SAUSD having one of the lowest chronic absentee rates among urban school Districts in California and a 97% attendance rate. Charged with administering pupil services, social-emotional learning, mental health, restorative practices, youth development, college and career readiness, counseling, charter schools, and safety programs for students.

    Support departments and school sites in developing well-created grant proposals in order to garner resources that will increase capacity to meet SAUSD goals and priorities in meeting the needs of all students.

    The oversight process will verify that SAUSD authorized charter schools maintain fiscal solvency and support the commitment of charter schools to provide students with a fair and equitable academic program delivered within a safe and effective learning environment.
