Santa Ana High School Band Director Victor de los Santos Named Finalist for Grammy Music Educator Award, for Third Consecutive Year
Victor de los Santos, director of bands for Santa Ana High School in the Santa Ana Unified School District, was named a finalist for the highly-selective Grammy 2020 Music Educator Award today, marking the third year in a row that he has made it to the final round of competition.
The annual Music Educator Award recognizes teachers who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in schools.
“I am very honored to be a finalist for the 2020 Grammy Educator of the Year,” Victor said. “What brings me even more pride is having Santa Ana High School next to my name on the nomination. Santa Ana High School is such a vibrant community which makes it fun to work with students.”
The Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum selected Victor and nine other finalists from among 3,300 nominees nationwide. This year’s winner will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards and Grammy Week events.
The nine additional finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and the schools of all 10 finalists will receive matching grants.
