SAUSD Board of Education Passes Proclamation Declaring Importance of Mental Health Services

The Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education this week passed a proclamation declaring the importance of mental health services, which acknowledges that mental health is essential to children’s overall social emotional health and well-being, propelling children and youth to thrive at home, school and their community.

The District is driven by its mission to enhance student success and achievement by building safe, supportive schools and engaging communities.

In addition, the District and its schools acknowledge that school based mental health programs can effectively implement the recommendations set forth by the Mental Health Services Act, Prevention & Early Intervention (MHSA-PEI) in order to reduce negative outcomes such as suicide, involvement with the juvenile justice system, school failure or dropout, prolonged suffering, and homelessness.

The District is committed to improve outcomes for their students by ensuring students have access to high quality resources, access to mental health and a safe, positive learning environment.
