SAUSD Superintendent Almendarez Announces Retirement Effective July 31
SAUSD Superintendent Jerry Almendarez has announced his retirement, effective July 31. Over his five years as superintendent, Jerry guided our district through significant challenges, including leading SAUSD through the COVID-19 pandemic and overseeing efforts to reopen schools safely. Under his direction, the district also developed the Graduate Profile—a forward-thinking framework designed to prepare all students for the jobs of tomorrow.
With more than 30 years in education, Jerry’s career has been dedicated to public service, marked by his commitment to collaboration, parent engagement, and promoting equity in school communities.
In his announcement at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting, Jerry said, "Serving as your superintendent has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I look forward to ensuring a seamless transition together."
