Important Update on District Staffing and Continued Student Support

Dear Santa Ana Unified School District Families,

I want to take a moment to share some important updates and reassure you of our continued commitment to your child’s education and well-being.

As you may be aware, the district is undergoing a Reduction in Force (RIF) as part of our efforts to align resources with long-term fiscal responsibilities. While these changes are necessary, I want to assure you that the resources and services provided to our students and families will not be impacted. Our highest priority remains ensuring that every student continues to receive a high-quality education in a supportive and enriching environment.

While class sizes may increase slightly, they will not exceed the maximum limits outlined in our contractual agreements. Additionally, we remain committed to student well-being by ensuring that every elementary school will have at least one counselor, every intermediate school at least two counselors, and every high school at least four counselors.

We deeply value our school community and recognize the trust you place in us to provide the best possible learning experience for your children. Our dedicated educators and staff remain committed to fostering a supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are in this together, and I appreciate your trust as we navigate these changes.

With gratitude,
Jerry Almendarez
Superintendent, Santa Ana Unified School District
