Estefania Rico, Coordinator, Expanded Learning Programs
Estefania Rico was born and raised in Santa Ana and is a proud SAUSD alumna, having attended Heninger Elementary, Willard Intermediate, and graduating from Santa Ana High School in 2007. She earned a degree in Child and Adolescent Studies from Cal State Fullerton.
Her career began in afterschool programs, and in 2015, she joined SAUSD’s Expanded Learning team as an Engage 360 Site Coordinator. She advanced to Field Supervisor in 2019 and later transitioned to Coordinator in 2022. As a parent of SAUSD students, she is deeply committed to the success and well-being of the students she serves.
A dedicated community member, Estefania believes in giving back to the community that provided her with many opportunities, viewing it as her way of paying it forward. She is passionate about fostering safe, supportive, and engaging environments where students can thrive.
Joe Rico, Help Desk Technician, Information Technology
Joe Rico is a proud alumnus of the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD), having attended Heninger Elementary School, Willard Intermediate School, and Santa Ana High School. During high school, he was also a student at the Nicholas Academic Center.
Deeply committed to supporting and enriching the SAUSD community, Joe is dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where all students can thrive. With nieces and nephews currently attending SAUSD schools, his passion for student success and well-being is deeply personal. As a lifelong member of the Santa Ana community, he believes in giving back to the district that provided him with so many opportunities, ensuring that future generations continue to benefit.
In the realm of technology, Joe works diligently to support SAUSD staff, helping them navigate and integrate digital tools effectively. His message to the community is to never let anyone say something is impossible—self-empowerment and determination can make anything achievable. One of his favorite quotes is, "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination."
