SAUSD to Begin Distributing At-Home COVID-19 Testing Kits to Students
Santa Ana Unified School District received today its first allotment of at-home COVID-19 testing kits from the Orange County Department of Education.
The initial round of deliveries to schools begins today Jan. 6, 2022 and tomorrow, Jan. 7, 2022, with more deliveries to follow throughout next week.
The District is receiving our 43,000 kits over several days, not all at once, because of delivery delays across the state. Our goal remains to provide one kit per student, however, not all students will receive their kits at the same time.
District leadership is working diligently to identify a delivery schedule that best meets the immediate needs of our students and school communities.
The health and safety of our students, staff and families remains a top priority to the District as we return from winter break. To this end, SAUSD will continue to host weekly COVID-19 testing clinics at school sites using the schedule established before the holiday break in order to make testing available for all students and staff.
Additionally, the District this week established free testing clinics for the Santa Ana community at several sites. Schools will also be receiving an allotment of KN95 masks which are to be made accessible for any student or staff member requesting this type of mask.
