Second graders from SAUSD’s Heninger Elementary School were treated to free books and a visit from Los Angeles Chargers representatives Nov. 16, 2021 as part of the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund’s “First Downs for First Books” literacy program.
Students followed along as Chargers players, representatives and partners read “Who Were the Tuskegee Airmen?” aloud to them during the event. They also received a special bookmark and a copy of “Magic Tree House: Revolutionary War” to take home with them.
The titles were selected to coincide with the Chargers’ celebration of November as Salute to Service month.
