State-of-the-Art Permanent Classroom Building Opens at SAUSD’s Muir Fundamental Elementary

Santa Ana Unified School District leaders gathered at Muir Fundamental Elementary on Nov. 18 to celebrate the opening of a new two-story classroom building housing 22 classrooms and four multi-function STEM collaboration rooms.

As part of the project, 24 aging portable buildings were removed and a state-of-the-art “Portable to Permanent” classroom building was constructed in their place. In addition, grass and asphalt areas were expanded to provide additional field and playground areas.

The project was paid for through state funds and money from Measure I, a $232 million school improvement bond measure passed by local voters in 2018.
