AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)

Segerstrom High School offers an extensive Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program providing academic resources and support to potential first-generation college-bound students.  As freshmen, students are placed into an AVID course based on the recommendation of the AVID Coordinator.  In the ensuing years students continue in an AVID elective course each year providing the student academic enrichment, tutoring support and college planning activities.  

Students successfully completing the final two years of the AVID program receive a year of “g” elective credit from the University of California admissions system.
