Mrs. Sara Jordan

My name is Sara Jordan. I am going to be your child's World History teacher this year. I became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children and to support their love of learning. My hope is that each child will learn that understanding history helps them understand the world. We will become historians by learning how to read and analyze multiple sources to help us understand a historical topic. We will work individually and collaboratively. There are many ways we will show that we understand the course material, like writing, short answers, quizzes, tests, presentations and projects.

I earned my BA and MA at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. I knew right away I wanted to be a teacher and headed straight to the classroom after my BA.  I began my teaching career at Century High School and was a founding teacher at Segerstrom High, where I currently teach. I also work with the UCI History Project and Vanguard University, leading professional development for teachers. In addition, I have been an AP College Board Exam reader, co-authored state wide curriculum on 10.4 Imperialism World History Unit, 2009 with The California Environment Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and presented on writing in the history classroom at several Social Science Conferences (CWHA, CCHE,AERA,CCSS). In my undergrad, I studied abroad at the University of Brighton in England, which provided me with many wonderful travel and world experiences. Since then, I have continued to travel around the world. I have been to 26 countries and am always thinking about my next adventure.

In my personal life I love spending time with my husband and two sons: Alexander and Andrew. My favorite activities are traveling, running and doing arts and crafts.

I truly love teaching and working with teenagers. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for all of us.
