1st Period - Band

Marching / Pep Band (F)
Pep Band meets first period during the fall semester. The Black and Gold Regiment (BGR) meets afterschool and performs at pep rallies as well as football, volleyball, and basketball games, making this a performance-heavy group. 1st period Pep Band provides students with the opportunity to develop their musical skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while also fostering a sense of community and pride within the school. Pep Band builds the necessary skills to participate in Concert Band in the spring semester.
Participation in The Black and Gold Regiment is voluntary and requires sign up.
The Black and Gold Regiment rehearses afterschool on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Rehearsals are mandatory and after 2 unexcused absences, students will be removed from the group.
Traditional instruments in this group:
Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Mellophone (French Horn), Trumpet, Baritone, Trombone, Tuba, Drumline (Snare, Bass, Tenors), Xylophone, and Marimba.
**All instruments encouraged!**

Concert Band (S)
Concert Band is for students interested in developing their musical skills through the study and performance of a diverse range of music for wind and percussion instruments. Throughout the course, students will learn fundamental concepts of music theory, notation, and ensemble performance, as well as techniques for developing their individual and group musicianship.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in festivals, concerts, further developing their skills as musicians and performers. Additionally, students will explore college music departments, rehearse with college professors, and perform music with professional musicians.
**All skill levels are accepted. **
