The only way to find your voice is to use it.

Welcome to Speech and Debate!

  • The Speech and Debate class period is period 6.  During class, students write, practice, and perfect speeches.  A focus is placed on finding and using our voices to empower ourselves and our community.

Students are expected to attend a minimum of 2 tournaments per semester in order to achieve an A grade in the class. This means the student will either be competing in a high school tournament AND/OR working an elementary/middle school tournament. Students who do not fulfill this will need to arrange with Ms. Statler to deliver additional presentations to the class in order to make up points; only one tournament may be made up. Students who wish to be eligible to travel with the district must both compete in high school tournaments AND judge at the elementary and middle school tournaments, in following with the idea that we give back to and empower our community.
