MacArthur's CJSF chapter works to provide community service in a variety of ways. Each member must participate in two service projects each semester.

    Peer Tutoring

At MacArthur, CJSF members provide tutoring services to students through our Tutor Corps. CJSF members tutor students before school, during lunch, and after school in all subject areas. Download a copy of the Service Hours Log.

    Campus and Community Clean-up

Throughout the year, CJSF participates in a campus clean-up. We visit the Newport Aquatic Center (NAC) to clean up the beach and the Back Bay, move boats, and weed the garden planters. Afterwards, members learn to kayak, stand-up paddle board, and outrigger and enjoy time for friendship! We also have Campus Clean-up events where we pick up litter found on our school grounds.

    Freedom Shrine Walk

Each fall, as the history classes encourage patriotism, the CJSF members become docents for MacArthur's Freedom Shrine in the PAR. As students take their 'tour,' members explain the various components and provide tidbits of historical information!

    Halloween Game Boothpumpkin bowling gang

During the October dance, the CJSF hosts a Pumpkin Bowling game.

History Faire & College/Career Day Ambassadors

On the day of the 7th grade History Faire, 8th grade CJSF members serve as student assistants at each of the rotation activities as well as in the Counting House. Their experience is a tremendous help on this busy day. For the May College & Career Day, CJSF members serve as ambassadors, assisting and escorting our speaker guests. They showcase the MacArthur Tiger spirit and are role models for our school.
Additional service opportunities are also available. Just ask!
