Mission Statement of Lathrop Intermediate School
Lathrop Intermediate School is dedicated to educational excellence. Through a rigorous and standards-based curriculum, students are able to construct the academic and 21st Century Skills necessary for success in high school, college, and career.

Course Description
Curriculum: Curriculum used in the class is Unique Learning System (ULS) and News-2-You (N2Y). More information on ULS and N2Y can be found at www.n2y.com. Every month, there will be a new unit theme which includes chapter books, new vocabulary words, correlating math pages and life skill lessons.
Community Based Instruction (CBI): Our class plans to go on 2 walking CBI’s per month. Students will work on mobility skills, social skills, money skills, life skills and more. CBI’s will be on the monthly calendar that is sent home at least a week prior to the next month with the location and cost. If you have any questions about CBIs, please feel free to contact me.
Cooking: We cook every other Thursday in our class. We make simple recipes that the students learn to follow. We practice measuring, prepping and kitchen safety.
Evaluation/Assessment Rational for Grade Determination
Grades: Your student will earn a Pass/Fail grade for Language Arts, Social Science, Science and Math. Achievement will be measured on progress of IEP goals. They will earn a letter grade for classes in general education.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to maintain a positive learning environment for other students and create safe conditions on campus.
All students are expected to:
- Be in your classroom ready to work when the tardy bell rings
- Follow directions from all staff members
- Bring all necessary materials to every class, every day
- Raise your hand and wait to be called on
- Remain seated unless given permission by the teacher to be out of your seats
- Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself
- Be respectful of others learning
BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT
- Students are expected to behave with respect in our classroom. Our rules are:
- Use kind words
- Be ready to learn
- Raise your hand or be ready when called on
- Keep your body to yourself
- Ask permission to leave the class
- Listen to all staff and peers
