Ms. Groothuis

My name is Ms. Groothuis.  I have been a Physical Education teacher at Lathrop Intermediate School since 1997.  I enjoy teaching the students of Santa Ana and have a passion for sharing my knowledge in the area of Physial Education with my students. 

I attended college at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where I received my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology.  Kinesiology is the study of movement.  I continued schooling at CSULB and received my teaching credential.  Shortly after I began working at Lathrop.  I decided to go back to school a short time after beginning my career as a teacher.  I attended Concordia University, Irvine where I received my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I am currently living in Huntington Beach, CA, with my best friend and my two dogs, Penny and Chloe.  Outside of work, I enjoy snowboarding, going to the beach, swimming and paddle boarding.  My favorite place in the whole wide world is Mammoth Lakes, CA.  It's a great place to snowboard in the winter and offers so many things to do in the summer, like fishing, hiking and camping.
