COMPUTER Programming  - App Creators

This unit will expose students to computer science by computationally analyzing and developing solutions to authentic problems through mobile app development, and will convey the positive impact of the application of computer science to other disciplines and to society. Students will create apps for Android Tablets and phones using the MIT App Inventor. Later in 2018 these apps will also be able to be ported to iOS devices.

Students will customize their experience by choosing a problem that interests them from the areas of health, environment, emergency preparedness, education, community service, and school culture. Because problems in the real world involve more than one discipline, the unit will introduce students to biomedical science concepts as they work on solutions for the specific problems they choose to tackle.

3D Computer Modeling -

This unit will expose students to 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling (or three-dimensional modeling) is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any surface of an object in three dimensions via specialized software. The product is called a 3D model. Someone who works with 3D models may be referred to as a 3D Modeler.

Students will create their models on chrome books using TinkerCAD software. These models can be 3D Printed. Students will also create and render photo realistic models using Art Of Illusion software on Linux sustems. Students will also create animations of these models.
