YAY! SAUSD *finally* managed to distribute its ZOOM licenses to all staff. I sent out an email earlier this morning with regard to a surreptitious-looking invitation to join some unknown staffer in Zoom. Understandably, most people probably deleted/ignored the message. Hopefully we managed to resolve that aspect.
HOWEVER-- some of you have been asking about Google Meet vs Zoom, pros and cons, what have you. I am currently putting together a comprehensive list, a compilation of sorts, detailing the most crucial facets of both teleconferencing platforms.
HOWEVER-- some of you might likely be wondering, now that you have migrated over to ZOOM, what types of changes might you need to worry about or anticipate?
1) YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE YOUR GOOGLE MEET LINK INVISIBLE IN YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM.
Right now your Google Classroom likely looks like mine, with this little video bubble icon next to your Google Meet link near the top.
Go to your Google Classroom Settings, find the Meet section, un-toggle the visible link button, and make sure to click Save.
When you return to your Google Classroom main page, you should now see the "invisible" icon next to your Google Meet link. Success!
2) UPDATE YOUR MEETING LINKS IN AERIES. THIS MAY BE THE ONLY WAY FOR SOME STUDENTS TO ACCESS YOUR ZOOM MEETINGS!
These instructions were sent out previously, but if you don't remember how to change your Meeting information in Aeries, please let me know and I'll gladly walk you through it!
You will just have to re-train your students to access AERIES prior to each class, so they have a one-stop shop for both the Google Classroom link AND the Zoom link.
