    Third Grade Biography Book Reports

Student in Ms. Jecusco's third grade began their biography book reports last week. Students were interviewed by classmates and responded in a first person point of-up view. They made a beautiful wall "hang-up" about their person and had to dress up in costume as well. Room 43 is having so much fun.

    Santiago Creative Writing-Read Aloud

Ms. Monette’s creative writing students read out loud to our third graders, showcasing their published work, discussing their writing process and how they chose the theme of their story. Way to go Ms. Monette and her Creative Writing students!

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Test for Grades 3-8 is fast approaching

Attention parents & guardians of Grade 3-8 students, the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP, also referred to as the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), will again be administered this year to all students in grades 3rd through 8th. This is a computer-based assessment for ELA and Math performance, that asks students to answer multiple choice questions and also provide written responses. Students will become familiar with the test format at school, but are also encouraged to become familiar with the SBAC test by taking a practice test at home. Practice tests simulate what it’s like to take the SBAC, giving everyone an early look at assessment questions that are aligned to the Common Core.

Click here to access the SBAC Student Practice & Training Test. Classroom testing will start in the 3rd week of April. Parents, please avoid scheduling doctor, dentist, or other appointments during the days (and times) your child will be testing. Students should get a good night sleep, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Thank you parents for your support to ensure our students are able to do their very best on the SBAC.
