Empowering all students to succeed in a changing world.

    FEBRUARY 17, 2017

THANK YOU TO OUR PTA FOR SPONSORING “THE CHILD CREATIVITY LAB”

The Child Creativity Lab, an independent non-profit organization, is making a needed impact in the education world, promoting principles that every child from any background should have access to. Children love playing and through playing can learn to create art. The Child Creativity Lab allows children to play with recyclable materials and learn how to create art and more with simple products.

Our scholars from all grade levels will have the opportunity to participate in the Child Creativity Lab, a 90 minute hands-on STEAM challenge activity. We thank our PTA for their generous donation and making this possible. The students in the picture were asked to use only the recyclable materials provided to them and design and build a ball carrier that can go down a zip line without dropping the ball. Santiago's future engineers and scientists enjoyed creatively applying their critical thinking skills.

    First Grade Bubble Assembly

The First Grade Water and Bubbles assembly from the Discovery Science Center was a big hit! Our scholars enjoyed learning about the water cycle and had a great time being part of the science of Bubbles!

Art Masters Assembly Featuring Artist Mark Chagall

PTA brings Art back into the classrooms. Our recent Art Masters assembly featured artist Mark Chagall, a French-Russian artist. An audio-visual presentation helped our students learn about the fascinating lives and famous works of Mark Chagall. After learning the inspiration and techniques of our featured artist, our scholars had an opportunity to complete their own Chagall inspired project. We thank our PTA for their continued support of the Art Masters program at Santiago.

7th Grade Field Trip to the Museum of Tolerance

7th grade Students went to the Museum of tolerance on February 2nd, 2017. The students and Chaperones had an amazing day learning about treating all people with kindness. They were able to experience a voting experience about refugees, walk through the progression of what happened during WWII in the Holocaust and a Point of View Cafe where students had to make a decision based on what they saw. At the end of our tour students were lucky enough to meet a Holocaust survivor who had a book of pictures to share his experience.
