    Villa's administrators, teachers, and staff recognize that gifted and talented students possess unique characteristics.
     
    The goal of Villa's GATE program includes the following elements:
     

    PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT

    Villa Fundamental Intermediate’s Gifted and Talented Education Program is committed to meeting the academic and social emotional needs of its gifted students through: 

    • Developing a passion for learning and personal growth so that students reach their goals and remain life-long learners
    • Delivering an enriched and rigorously accelerated curriculum, apart from the standard classroom curriculum, for identified students that is aligned with the California State recommended program standards for gifted students
    • Differentiating curriculum and instructional delivery to align with the needs of individual students
    • Directing all identified students toward intellectual, emotional, and social success in academics and life

    PROGRAM GOALS

    • Identify and serve students who meet the Santa Ana Unified School District criteria for gifted students
    • Address the social and emotional needs of identified students with the assistance of counselors, mentors, and peers
    • Provide students opportunities for higher level thinking, rigor, and novelty in their classes
    • Assist and provide professional development opportunities for classroom teachers in the process of differentiation for identified students
