• John Bennett graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s Degree in English from Cal State Fullerton. He began his career in education in Palau, Micronesia, where he taught high school English. After three years, he returned home and worked in Santa Ana as an English teacher and department chairperson, first at Willard Intermediate School and then at Segerstrom High School, where he eventually became the TOSA.

    Mr. Bennett served as assistant principal at Villa Fundamental Intermediate School from 2013 to 2016. He worked as the assistant principal of guidance at Westminster High School from 2016 to 2019 and the assistant principal of curriculum at Edison High School from 2019 to 2022.

    Mr. Bennett is a committed member of the SAUSD community, having dedicated the majority of his career to serving its students. Two of Mr. Bennett’s passions, outside of educational leadership, include music and surfing. He has been playing the drums since ninth grade and surfing since 2012.
