Mrs. Lugo's class were excited in learning about decomposers and how they help our world by breaking down waste! The class's favorite decomposers are the worms. Worms are able to give back nutrients to the soil after they decomposed food scraps and other organic waste. For a STEAM activity, Mrs. Lugo's class decided to design, create and build their our own decomposers.
Santiago Art Masters Features Artist Roy Lichtenstein
The Santiago Art Masters program recently held an assembly introducing the life and work of our featured artist, Roy Fox Lichtenstein, an American pop artist. All our students participated in the Meet the Masters visual arts program and then did an in-classroom art project that reflects the style, medium, and artistic techniques of Roy Lichtenstein. Mrs. Andersen’s 2nd graders proudly presented their artworks.
Hero Officers Teach the Importance of Details
School Police Officer Nadeau and Officer Limon taught 8th graders the importance of details. Students read “Tell Tale Heart” and then did a police report on the crime scene. The officers went over why it is important to tell only the facts but give all the details. After today’s lesson, students will follow up with an essay from the attorney’s perspective by pleading a case for the narrator. Thank you, Ms. Monette, for hosting our Hero Officers and allowing them to be teachers in the classroom!
This Cross Country season was a great success due to the dedication of our athletes. Most of our cross country runners place in the top 20, with Morgan Nelson placing 4th for 7th grade boys.
