    CLASS EXPECTATIONS

I PROMISED TO BE FAIR, HONEST, AND ORGANIZED.  EACH OF YOU SHOULD PROMISE THE SAME.

BELOW ARE SOME GUIDELINES TO HELP YOU BE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS POSSIBLE:

STUDENTS WILL: 1. COME TO CLASS PROPERLY PREPARED.  2. BE ON TIME AND SEATED BEFORE THE BELL RINGS.  3. REMAIN IN THE CLASSROOM ONCE THE CLASS HAS BEGUN.  4. RAISE HAND BEFORE RESPONDING TO A QUESTION OR SHARING OPINIONS.  5. ALWAYS TREAT TEACHERS AND PEERS WITH RESPECT.  NAME CALLING, SHOUTING AND INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.  6. SHARPEN PENCILS AND THROW AWAY TRASH BEFORE OR AFTER CLASS.  7. EAT OR DRINK OUTSIDE OF CLASS TIME.  8. BE DISMISSED BY THE TEACHER NOT THE BELL.

IF ANY STUDENT VIOLATES THE OUTLINE GUIDELINES, HE /SHE WILL BE DEALT WITH APPROPRIATELY AND IMMEDIATELY. A FIRST OFFENSE IS USUALLY MET WITH AN INDIVIDUAL CONFERENCE WITH THE TEACHER AND PERHAPS A WRITING ASSIGNMENT.   A SECOND OFFENSE WILL RECEIVE A PHONE CALL HOME, POSSIBLE REFERRAL, AND PERHAPS AN ADDITIONAL WRITING ASSIGNMENT.  A THIRD OFFENSE MAY RESULT IN CLASS OR SCHOOL SUSPENSION, PARENT CONFERENCE, DETENTION, AND POSSIBLE GRADE REDUCTION.

    GRADING

GRADES WILL BE BASED ON WRITING ASSIGNMENTS, DAILY CLASS WORK, HOMEWORK, QUIZZES, TESTS, REPORTS, GROUP PROJECTS, CLASS PARTICIPATION AND BEHAVIOR.  HOMEWORK IS 15% OF THE CLASS AND WILL BE ASSIGNED ALMOST NIGHTLY. EXPECT AT LEAST ONE OUTSIDE REPORT. ASSIGNMENTS ARE GRADED ON A POINT BASIS. FINAL GRADES ARE DETERMINED BY A PERCENTAGE OF THE TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE.

ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE TURNED IN ON TIME. STUDENTS CAN FIND OUT WHAT THEY MISSED DURING AN ABSENCE BY CHECKING WITH A CLASSMATE, LOOKING AT THE POSTED HOMEWORK SCHEDULE, OR BY ASKING THE TEACHER.

LET’S HAVE A FUN, EDUCATIONAL ANA EXCITING SCHOOL YEAR!
