    Mr. Mark Parchmann

    Mr. Parchmann is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined the Cesar Chavez High School staff after working as an educator in Illinois and California for over 20 years. 


    Parchmann worked in radio and television and as a newspaper writer before beginning his career in education. He taught media writing and production courses at Northern Illinois University and was also responsible for the Watson Hall television and editing labs at NIU. In 1995, he accepted the Television Station Manager position at Washington Communication Academy in Rockford. After earning a second MA and his Illinois teaching certificate, he began teaching English and Social Studies at Rockford’s Auburn High School in 2007. 


    After moving to Orange County in 2009 and completing a California teacher’s certification program, Parchmann joined Santa Ana Unified’s Independent Study Program as an English instructor in 2011. Since being transferred to CCHS in 2013, he has taught American Government, Economics, World Geography, World History and both Junior and Senior-level English classes.


    Parchmann’s interests include bicycling, music, show dogs and travel. He has been fortunate enough to visit Aruba, Canada, Croatia, Curacao, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Sweden and 43 of the 50 American states.  


    Mr. Parchmann is a member of both the California and National Councils for the Social Studies. In November 2017, he accepted an appointment to become the Vice Chairman of the Human Rights Education Community of the NCSS.
