Russ Ford Hall
On May 3rd, the RCA and SAUSD community lost their beloved retired teacher and Title I Program Specialist, Mr. Russ Ford, in a terrible act of violence.
Mr. Ford was much more than a teacher or Title I coordinator, he was the soul of RCA during his tenure at our fortunate school. Involved in every project or activity, big or small, Mr. Ford was available to every student and staff member, offering his expertise and guidance to help anyone in need.
Mr. Ford believed that students came first, and that student needs eclipsed all other priorities at school. To that end he created a state-of-the-art technology program with full network access years before it was the norm. He set up the Accelerated Reader program, riding around the school on a bicycle he purchased with his own funds for the annual winner. He oversaw the special education department and participated in more IEPs than can be remembered.
To that end, students and staff members requested and received board approval to name RCA's new building in his honor, Russ Ford Hall.
