Principal's Message
-
Fremont Parents, Guardians, and Community,
My name is Armando Gutierrez, and it is with great pleasure and honor that I serve as your principal for a 2nd year.
I was born in Jalisco, Mexico and raised in Santa Ana since the age of three, and a product of the Santa Ana Unified School District, attending Lowell, Willard, and Santa Ana High School. After graduating in 1991, I attended Santa Ana College (Rancho Santiago College) and then transferred to California State University, Long Beach, and attended graduate school at Chapman University. I worked part-time in the student activities office at SAHS while attending college, and then began to substitute teach for the district.
I began my teaching career in 1998 teaching Physical Education at Lathrop Intermediate. I then earned my multiple subject teaching credential and had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten at Franklin Elementary. Then, I worked as a Kindergarten teacher, title 1 resource teacher, and literacy coach at Madison Elementary. I took a break from the classroom as coordinator of the Twilight PreK program at the district office. I missed teaching and being in the classroom with kids, so I returned to teach 1st grade at Martin Elementary, and in 1998 I had the honor of being named an Orange County Teacher of the Year. I was the assistant principal at Heninger, King, Lowell, and Willard schools, and then at Hoover Elementary, where I was the principal. I am the proud principal at Fremont Elementary School.
We were excited and thrilled to have our students return to in person learning. It had its challenges, but in the end we demonstrated perseverance and resiliency. We will continue to have high expectations for our students, both academically and behaviorally, and work together with our parents/guardians. At Fremont, we take pride in providing unique long-lasting experiences for our students and developing the whole child. The safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our number one priority.
The 2022-2023 school year will be about getting back to all the wonderful things that was happening at Fremont, while still being cautious and safe. We will work towards a school-wide focus and begin to brand ourselves as an elementary school. But we cannot do it alone, it is when parents/guardians and the school work together, that we can create an amazing school experience for our students at Fremont. I encourage our families to become involved in our school, in whatever capacity you can.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything you need and/or have concerns.
I am here to serve you!
