• Textbook Policies:  colorful books

Textbooks are often very expensive and cost between $10 and $160 each. Damages rates are set as well.  See below.

Textbooks must be returned in person to staff and not placed in the library's book return slot.

    English novels are textbooks.

When checking in a textbook ALWAYS wait and be sure that the book returned is the one that was checked out to YOUEven if you return a book that is not yours, you are still responsible for the exact one you were issued.

You may go on-line and check your account at any time, and we recommend that you do this periodically. (Use the How to Check Student's Book Record library web page or gold instruction sheets are available on the Library's Circulation counter and posted in most classrooms.)

    Lost Books

You are responsible for all books that you check out, so know where they are at all times. You are required to pay for books that you loan to others, lose or are damaged.  Book bar code numbers checked out to you are available on line. (Use How to Check Student's Book Record library based webpage or gold instruction sheet.

If you believe you have turned in a class textbook, then you will need to make arrangements to go to the Textbook Depository to look for that particular book, please call Ms. Phan at 714-567-4900 to arrange a time.

If you believe you have turned in an English novel, then you will need to check with the Library staff and make arrangements to look in  the Textbook Closet or the 3rd Floor Novel Bookroom with a library staff person.

Do not leave your textbook in a classroom.

Lost textbooks returned to the Library or Textbook Depository staff are immediately
checked-in clearing the book from the appropriate student's record.

Check at the library as to how to get a replacement, but you are still responsible for the missing textbook and payment for loss or damages. A payment contract signed by student and parent/guardian is required through the Assistant Principal, Mr. Lighthall  in the Main Office. There are payment options available.  Working arrangements for severe financial hardship can be made as well.

Highly Recommended:  Cover your textbooks, put your name on the cover,  and keep a separate list of all texts issued to you and their barcodes.

Replacing Lost Textbooks:    Books which are returned are immediately checked back in clearing the student's record. You may check at the library for procedures to get another, but you are still responsible for any missing textbook and payment. If not found and payment contract needs to be made, see Mr. Eddie Vela, Operations Director whose office is in the Main Office.

Books From Other SAUSD District Schools:  Books and damages from another SAUSD school may be returned to SAHS and fines for lost or damages may be paid at SAHS.  Arrangements for serious financial situations are addressed privately.
