Who are school counselors?
- A person who provides support services for all students.
- A resource for all staff members and parents.
- A liaison with outside community resources.
- We are NOT Disciplinarians, Administrators, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, or Social Workers.
What do elementary school counselors do?
Through a variety of strategies and interventions, school counselors work alongside teachers and families to help students develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
Do you offer therapy?
The role of a school counselor is to focus on school-related concerns. Although we can meet with students regarding personal concerns, we are not licensed to meet with them long-term. We can refer students to outside mental health resources, as needed and available.
How can my child speak with a counselor?
Students can see counselors by:
- Self-referral
- Parent-referral
- Teacher/Administrator/Staff referral
- Peer referral
