Physical Education
Welcome!
Welcome to ALA Physical Education, and welcome to my class! My name is Mr. Mitcheltree (you can call me Mr. Tree) and I am the physical education teacher at Advanced Learning Academy. As a physical educator, my goal is for every student to become invested in their physical fitness and health and have fun! This page contains the essentials for my physical education class.
Expectations and Procedures
In terms of class expectations, they are all based on the concept of RESPECT:
- Respect for your classmates
- Respect Mr. Tree
- Respect the equipment
- Respect yourself
In addition to improving our health, fitness levels, and sports skills, I ask the following of my students:
- They participate to the best of THEIR ability.
- Come to class on time and dressed for physical activity with proper clothes and shoes.
- Listen and follow the directions of all adults, not just their teacher.
- Work cooperatively with classmates in pairs, small groups, and teams.
- Follow all safety guidelines, especially when using sports equipment.
- No food, unauthorized electronic devices, or cell phones are allowed in class. Water is the only drink allowed.
At the beginning of each period, we will meet in Room 3 to take roll, review the agenda and objectives for the day, and complete your agenda. We will then (usually) move outside to engage in physical activity before returning to Room 3 to wrap up.
Materials
To be successful, students should come prepared with the following materials:
- Athletic or comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (no sandals, flip-flops, boots)
- Full water bottle (there is a water bottle filling station on campus!)
- Recommended
- Extra shirt
- Personal hygiene products (deodorant)
Physical Education ExcusesWith a parent note, a student may be excused for a maximum of THREE days. The note must be SIGNED AND DATED. On the 4th day, a doctor’s note is required.
