Degrees and Certifications:

About me

I have a Masters Degree in Education from Pepperdine University, where I completed the coursework for a multiple subject teaching credential. I also have a B-CLAD certificate from the state of California, which authorizes me to give instruction in Spanish. I have been teaching in the Santa Ana Unified School District since 2003, mostly in second grade. I have also taught fourth grade, eighth grade English Language Arts, and one year of kindergarten. I have been teaching second grade at Kennedy since 2013. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked for fifteen years as a lawyer, including three years at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and twelve years at a small business litigation firm in Newport Beach. I made my career transition because I had several opportunities to volunteer with children, and realized that teaching would be a career that would suit my personality well and that I would find professionally fulfilling. There has never been a day where I have regretted my decision. I very much enjoy teaching, and I hope to make second grade a meaningful year for your child and an important step in his college or career readiness.
