PTA-Supported Fundraisers

We have a number of fundraisers to help support the students and staff here at Thorpe. Some support specific 'causes' such as the library and others are more general. ALL help the students at our school in one way or another.
We typically offer two main fundraisers a year.  The first is held in the Fall and is usually a Gift Wrap or Catalog Sales fundraiser.  The second is our Jog-a-thon and is held in the Spring.
We also schedule Family Fun Nights, which are opportunities for families to do something together and for us a school community to get to know each other better.  These nights include Skate Nights, Ruby's, Rubio's, etc.  Each of these businesses returns a portion of their profits to our PTA.
This year, we are trying a few new things, like selling discounted movie tickets.  We have partnered with Starlight Theaters to sell movie tickets at $7 each.  Order forms are available in the office and tickets can be sent home with the students or picked up in the office.  They can be used for both adults and children, for any showing, and even include 3D movies.  The closest theater is in Costa Mesa, in the Triangle Square Shopping Center, at Newport Blvd and 19th Street.
We also sell School Spirit shirts, license plate frames, and magnets.  Youth shirts are $8, adult sizes are $10, and license plates and magnets are just $1 each.

box tops  Box Tops for Education has helped Thorpe gain books for our school library. Participating in the program is simple; you probably have many of the items already in your cupboards at home. Simply look for the Box Tops emblem, cut them out, and  bring them in. Each 'coupon' you clip is worth 10 cents so every single one counts! You can download a collection sheet from the Box Tops for Education website's Activity Center. Be sure to click on the Activity Center tab. As an added bonus, our librarian, Mrs. Rausch, offers a small prize to each student who turns in 25 Box Tops.
