 This year we learn a great deal of new academic concepts. Students need to read, read, read. Read a variety of different genres. This school year we begin to spend more time reading informational text (non-fiction). 

 

Your child should be encouraged to read everyday. Help your child learn to love reading. Or, at the very least, help them develop better reading habits. Help them find a consistent time and a suitable place to read. Many families find that having children read for a short time before bed is a good practice. This is often a quiet, consistent, and distraction free time.
