BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MEET APRIL 26, 2022

BOARD OF EDUCATION TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON OFFICE OF INDIAN EDUCATION FORMULA GRANTS

The Board of Education is holding a public hearing on the Office of Indian Education Formula Grants to Local Educational Agencies Program proposal for the 2022-23 school year. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on April 26, 2022 in the Board Room, 1601 E. Chestnut Ave. Click here for more information.

 

 

 

SAUSD HOLDS NAMING CEREMONY FOR LYDIA ROMERO-CRUZ ACADEMY

SAUSD held a naming ceremony on April 20, 2022 for Lydia Romero-Cruz Academy in honor of a teacher who was born and raised in Santa Ana and spent her life giving back to the community. Lydia Romero-Cruz specialized in bilingual education and partnered with other educators to promote dual immersion programs. The naming ceremony included members of the Lydia Romero-Cruz family, SAUSD School Board members Valerie Amezcua, John Palacio, and Superintendent Jerry Almendarez and his leadership team. CONGRESSMAN LOU CORREA HONORS 16 SAUSD WOMEN AT ANNUAL WOMEN OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Sixteen inspiring and talented women from SAUSD were recently honored as 2022 Women of the Year by Congressman Lou Correa. The award honors exceptional women in the 46th Congressional District who have made significant contributions to their community. SAUSD TO LAUNCH COMPREHENSIVE SUMMER PROGRAM FOR 2022

SAUSD will launch a comprehensive Summer Program that will include enrichment, personalized learning camps, academic support, visual and performing arts, and other programs and services for students in all grade levels. Click here to view a preliminary schedule.

 

 

 

VIDEO: SAUSD HOLDING LISTENING SESSIONS TO GATHER STUDENT FEEDBACK ON GRADUATE PROFILE

SAUSD continues to hold listening sessions aimed at gathering student feedback on the SAUSD Graduate Profile - a set of competencies that the SAUSD community believes students should possess when they graduate from our high schools. Scholars from 12 District schools are being asked about their experiences at our campuses to help us further refine the Profile. Future sessions will be held to obtain feedback from staff and community members. VIDEO: LEARN MORE ABOUT SAUSD’S DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM

SAUSD offers Dual Language instruction at eight schools across the District, making it one of the most comprehensive programs in the region. A multilingual student builds critical thinking and communication skills in both English and Spanish, and is able to better prepare for college and careers, and compete globally. SANTA ANA PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION AWARDING $49,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

The Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation is awarding $49,000 in scholarships to 42 graduating SAUSD seniors this year. Recipients were recently recognized during a ceremony at Saddleback High School where they were cheered on by students, staff, families and community members, Superintendent Jerry Almendarez, SAPSF Board Members, SAUSD high school administrators, counselors, and private donors.
