Santa Ana Unified School District remains committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students. The District also remains committed to keeping our campuses open for in-person instruction with safety protocols in place that continue to follow the latest guidance from local, state, and federal health care agencies. As the holiday season comes to an end, in-person instruction is resuming on Monday, January 3, as scheduled.
The recent spike in COVID-19 cases both locally and nationally caused by the Omicron variant has added another challenge for all schools. SAUSD continues to communicate almost daily with health experts and is working to secure additional resources to ensure our schools remain among the safest places for children in the community.
Here are some of the ongoing and added resources the District is providing when students return to school.
- COVID-19 testing will continue following the same schedule as before the winter break at all schools and District offices. Testing will remain available for all students and staff.
- SAUSD has ordered 43,000 at-home testing kits that will be distributed to school sites for distribution to students’ families. These kits should arrive by next week.
The District also continues to require that anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, anyone who tests positive for COVID-19, or anyone who has come in close contact with another individual who has tested positive follow SAUSD protocols, which can include quarantining and other measures.
These measures, along with more information on testing and vaccination opportunities, are available at www.sausd.us/covid-resources.
