  • Century Student is Winner in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Poster Contest!

    Cesar Pompa, a student in Mr. Ramirez’s Digital Media Arts Class, had his artwork selected for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Poster Contest conducted jointly by the Santa Ana Unified School District and the City of Santa Ana. The city will display his artwork on bus shelters throughout the city. Congratulations to Ceasar and all the students who participated in this contest!

  • University of California President, Janet Napolitano, Welcomes SAUSD Students to the UC System

    University of California President, Janet Napolitano, met with some of the SAUSD students who will be attending the UC system in the fall. CHS was represented by: Diana Luz Morales (UC Santa Cruz), Edgar Espinoza (UC Irvine), Leticia Charco (UC Davis) and Bianka Aguilar (UC Berkeley).

  • Edwards Lifesciences Share Their Hearts with Century!

    Freshman students worked with biomedical engineers from Edwards Lifesciences and learned about heart function and careers in biomedical science. Chief Scientific Officer and Corporate Vice President, Stanton Rowe lead all the sessions and conducted hands on heart dissections with students. 180 students worked with 12 engineers on this event that was held through out the day.

  • Congresswoman Sanchez Invites Mrs. Obama to CHS Graduation Ceremony

    Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez was here today to invite Mrs. Obama to Century High School's 25th graduation ceremony. The Congresswoman was surrounded by more than 400 Centurions as she talked about the highlights of Century High School.

    Century High School's Higher Education Center organized its first annual College Signing Day, Our event is aligned with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative designed to celebrate ALL college-bound students and their commitment to complete their education beyond high school, whether at a traditional 4-year university, a 2-year college or through an industry recognized training program. #Reachhigher

  • Lefty Lucy Wins 3rd Place in the Design Brief!

    Century High School's Race Car, Lefty Lucy won 3rd place in the lightweight division at the UCI Energy Invitational, Design Brief Competition this week at the OC Fair Grounds as part of the Imaginology STEAM Fair. Congratulations to students on the Race Team!

  • Century Students Demonstrate Zero Tolerance for Bullying

    The Safe School Ambassadors at Century High School led a successful Anti-Bullying campaign called “Stick to What's Right”. With hard work and dedication, the ambassadors managed to collect 1421 pledges from Century students pledging to "Spread the Love and Stick up for What’s Right."   • Centurion Accepted to Harvard

    Congratulation to Aileen Navarette for being accepted to Harvard University as well as a Gates Millennium Scholar for the class of 2015. Students who are selected to be Gates Millennium Scholars will receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any U.S. based, accredited college or university of their choice.

The school's name was chosen in a contest among Santa Ana high school students in 1989.

Due to the fact that it was founded in 1989, one hundred years after the founding of the city of Santa Ana,

The name Century was selected.

To help prepare Century High School students for college and careers of the future, Century has two new Academies. The Digital Media and Arts Academy integrates 21st Century skills into student's standard based core curriculum using Art and Digital Media themes. The Engineering Design Academy will help develop student's academic skills in engineering and science while they develop their technical skills to better prepare students for 21st Century careers and jobs. Century offers Engineering courses in Biotechnology and Introduction to Engineering using Project Lead the Way Curriculum. As part of Century's Academy Exploration Class, we are using Paxton Patterson Careers Plus Lab as a foundation. This class introduces students to 7 different areas: Robotics and Automation, Materials Science, Alternative Energy, Environmental Technology, Architecture and Construction.   slide show

Students at the TED conference
Century's Engineering Design Academy is a National Academy Foundation Academy.  Century was awarded the 2012 NAF Kelly Services grant for a project to help develop freshman computer skills and motivate students in the Engineering and Design Academy. Click to view details of the project.
 MOUSE Squad is another program at Century. In this ThinkTogether  after school program students learn about computers and software. They share their new skill set with teacher and staff by helping with computer problems.  Check out photos and details here.  Learn more about this the MOUSE Squad.
