Sierra Prep Rangers!
A SCHOOL OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
Sierra Preparatory Academy
Welcome to the Home of the Rangers and the 2016-17 school year! It is with great pleasure and tremendous honor that I serve as the principal of Sierra Preparatory Academy. I look forward to another hugely successful year.
Last year, all grade levels exceeded their growth target in both Math and Reading with 35% of our students making the Honor Roll and 40 students earning a 4.00 GPA! Our EL students continued to show growth and students passing the CELT increased tremendously—we are making serious progress! 118 students earned the Pathway to Biliteracy award, putting them on course to receive the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy when graduating from high school. The Ranger Marching Band and Jazz Band continued to provide soothing sounds for the community and was a big hit in the 58th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival and parade. Our Parent Center, under the leadership of our new parent liaison, Griselda Rubalcava, averaged over 400 parents in attendance at monthly meetings. To learn more about our Parent Center, please contact Griselda at 714-567-3513 or at Griselda.Rubalcava@SAUSD.US.
This year, we will continue to build on last year’s success by offering several new electives and Honor courses:
Finally, I am excited to announce that in the spring of last year, Sierra Prep was selected to be a Turnaround Arts school. Turnaround Arts: California is a non-profit organization established to administer Turnaround Arts, a signature program of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, in the State of California. Schools in the national pilot phase of the Turnaround Arts program demonstrated increased academic achievement, increased student and family engagement, and improved school culture and climate. We plan to continue this trend! For additional information, please visit turnaroundartsca.org.
Please accept my invitation to visit Sierra Preparatory Academy and witness 21st Century teaching and learning.
