Wilson's Parents are Science Savvy!
The learning at Wilson Elementary has been flourishing this year as our students continue to advance in Writing, Reading, and Oral Speaking. Our teachers have been emphasizing college level vocabulary and writing all year which is making a major impact on student achievement. Emphasizing challenging academic tasks, including oral presentations and writing will serve our students long-term throughout their academic and professional careers. The latest Benchmark scores indicate that our students are scoring higher than ever before with large gains in second and third grade, in particular. It is a great joy to watch our students vocabularies and writing skills thrive through the support of our parents and the beautifully orchestrated lessons delivered by our phenomenal faculty.
Our district has started an official program called Santa Ana Adelante!, which is an agreement with Santa Ana College, University California Irvine, and Cal State University at Fullerton that provides each SAUSD graduate that meets requirements a clear path to College admission. (Click on the link to the left) To support our students in seeing themselves as graduates, on February 9th, our 5th grade students will be visiting University of California in Irvine. Our students will participate in an official tour of the campus to learn academic life at UCI. We know that this trip along with the rigorous academic lessons our students are learning each day, will further fuel our students to continued academic success.
