UCI School of Law Fieldtrip - On Friday, Sept. 30th, juniors will put their “legal eagle” skills to work at UCI’s Law School. The juniors will tour the school, listen to law professors and law students about the field of law as a profession, and they will take part in mock trial scenarios. This event culminates UCI’s “Street Law” program that took place in our AVID classes. Students spent time working with law students in scholarly argumentation of classic law cases involving copyright infringement, contracts, and social responsibility.
PSAT Testing – On Wednesday, Oct. 19th, all sophomores and juniors will participate in taking the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) at school. The PSAT is a practice test for the real SAT, a critical college entrance exam. From the PSAT, students will get vital feedback about their areas of strengths and areas in which they need additional support. Students will open College Board accounts that will give them free access to tools like Khan Academy and a personalized study plan for the SAT.
Schools of Choice Fair – On Saturday, Oct. 22nd, SAUSD will host the third annual School Choice Fair in downtown 4th street promenade from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Every SAUSD school and various programs will host information booths along with entertainment and games. Students and parents of middle school students are invited to stop by Middle College High School’s booth to find out more about our school from students, staff members, and parents to see if MCHS might be in your future plans!
MCHS’s First Homecoming! On October 29th, MCHS will defend our title as Small Schools Football Champs in the Small Schools Football Tournament at Saddleback High School. Later that evening, ASB will host our first homecoming dance in SAC’s small gym from 6-10 p.m. Come to the game and cheer the Wizards on to another victory and be a part of historic homecoming!
Secretary of State Arne Duncan announced the 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools and MCHS earned the prestigious title. This is the second time our school has earned this award, having earned the NBRS title in 2009, as well. MCHS is one of eight high schools in CA earning the title this year and the only high school in Orange County. It is interesting to note that 5 of the 8 CA 2015 NBRS high schools are "Middle College" models. Hats off to our students, staff, parents and our wonderful partners at SAC! Feel the MCHS magic!

Welcome to the Middle College High School website! It is an honor to serve this outstanding community centered around student success. It is my hope that after you visit MCHS’s website, you will leave understanding the positive environment and the dual enrollment opportunity we offer for our students to grow both personally and academically. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff, and want to share that pride with all who visit us here on web.
As you navigate through our website, you will hopefully see that the students, staff and parents work hard to establish academic excellence as our school’s hallmark. We are also proud of our extraordinary partnership with Santa Ana College that opens the door to higher education and educational opportunity to our students.
However, we also understand that there are dynamic changes taking place in K-12 education and the world. To stay abreast of these changes, we are working hard to provide our students with the cutting edge educational experiences it take for our students to be successful citizens in today’s global arena.
To that end, MCHS continues to provide academic programs that focus on mastery of the Common Core Readiness Standards, as well as each content's standards. These standards complement the rigorous learning taking place in the college courses that our students take here at SAC. In addition, we will continue with our outstanding AVID program that supports our students both academically and in preparing for college.
Outside the classroom, MCHS offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities with many clubs and organizations, service community opportunities and school spirit activities. Our very active ASB have plans for another spirit-filled year with club and class-competition activities.
