On Thursday, May 12th, twelve SAUSD 8th Grade AVID Standouts were honored at Angels Stadium. Each student was presented on the field with an AVID medal, a certificate and a laptop computer. AVID Standouts embody the very spirit of the AVID program both in and out of the classroom. 

Two of the twelve students honored were selected to receive the $10,000 Angels AVID 8th Grade Standout Scholarship which will be kept in trust until they attend the college or university of their choice. Congratulations to Jose Juan (JJ) Mendiola (Mendez Fundamental) and Audrey Cendejas (MacArthur Fundamental) for this additional honor.
