Feb. 1-5, 2021 - National School Counseling Week: “All In for All Students”
Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) is celebrating National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Feb. 1-5, 2021, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors. On Jan. 12, 2021 SAUSD school Board members voted unanimously on a proclamation declaring February 2021 as School Counselor Month.
SAUSD celebrates our 66 school counselors and higher education coordinators. Our school counseling teams will be hosting special events and activities the week of Feb. 1-5, continuing the efforts of the Great Kindness Challenge, and leading into our We Care campaign.
School counselors and higher education coordinators are actively engaged in helping students discover their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. They work in partnership with parents and community partners as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world, focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, postsecondary and social/emotional development. School counselors and higher education coordinators also work with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.
