IMPORTANT Information regarding SAFETY at Heroes School |Información IMPORTANTE sobre SEGURIDAD en Escuela Héroes

Dear Heroes Families,

Each year we practice three safety drills as part of our comprehensive safety plan.  The goal of practicing the drills is to help our students feel safe at school and to know what to do should an emergency arise.  Please fell free to discuss general safety and/or the with your students.  Below is a brief description of the drills that will be practiced:

1)   Evacuation: How to exit the school in a quick and orderly manner.  This is most typically used for a fire drill, or following an earthquake “Duck and Cover” drill. Each class follows an exit route and are accounted for while waiting quietly with teachers outside the building.  We practice fire drills one time per month. Our next evacuation drill will take place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. No one can enter the school during an evacuation.

2)   “Lock-Out” Secured Perimeter: How students are kept safe inside the school when there is a potential threat outside of our school.  We make sure all students are inside the building.  Business as usual continues within the school. No one is allowed to enter or exit the school during a Lock Out.
3)"Lock Down": How students are kept safe when there is a potential threat within the school.  Students practice staying quiet and unseen within classrooms. Nobody may leave their classroom during a Lock Down and entry into the school is not permitted. We will practice our Lockdown tomorrow morning.

We encourage you to talk to your students about what to do both at school and at home in the event of a crisis.
