MAP Testing for 3rd-5th Grade Students

On Tuesday, January 19th thru Friday, January 22nd, students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will take their second MAP assessment of the school year. The test is used to measure students' learning growth in the areas of Math and Reading. The test is adaptable, some questions are easy and some are difficult, but students must answer all questions. The test is approximately 1 hour long, with some students needing extra time to complete it.
This is the second MAP assessment, therefore, we will be able to measure each student's growth.

How can I help prepare my child for the test?

  • Identify a space with zero to minimal interruptions.
  • Inform family members and friends to be mindful about noises and interruptions.
  • Have a conversation of encouragement to do their best.
  • Ensure your child gets a restful sleep the night before testing days.
  • Make sure their chrome book or device is fully charged.
  • Remind your child to take their time, read each question carefully, and try their absolute best.
  • Only the student should take the test, please do not help your child.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday make sure your child:

  • Wakes up early and eats a nice healthy breakfast.
  • Has all the materials needed for a successful testing experience: chrome book, paper, and pencils.
  • Finds a quiet place to take the test, where he/she will be able to focus and concentrate.
  • Logs-in 5 minutes before testing time.
  • Carefully listens to teacher's instructions.
  • Has the microphone MUTED.
  • Has the camera ON.
  • Takes his/her time and reads each question carefully
  • Takes the test without any help from anyone.

After the test:

  • Congratulate your child for completing the test and trying his/her best.
  • Allow him/her to do a fun activity
  • Patiently wait for your child's teacher to share the results with each student.
