SANTIAGO ELEMENTARY K-8 STUDENTS SCORE IN COUNTY NATIONAL HISTORY DAY COMPETITION
Santiago Elementary School (K-8) students recently took honors in the county National History Day competition.
On March 15, 2017, Daniela Mondragon, Jaquelyn Robledo, Nancy Rodriguez, Jordan Villagomez and Samantha Alvarado discovered that they had won co-champions in the Junior Group Performance category for their presentation of "The Outcomes of Women Taking a Stand for Equal Pay." They will be competing in the NHD state competition on May 6 and 7 at William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA for an opportunity to head to nationals.
Irene Mata, Kayla Segura, Kaylah Marquez and Miguel Gonzalez are also going to state. They won co-champions in the Junior Group Performance category for their presentation of "Margaret Sanger's Battle for Birth Control."
Additionally, the following Santiago students placed or received judges awards in the NHD county competition: Group 2-D poster runner up - Brian Huarache, Owen Larson. Group exhibit - Damian Nieto, Jesus Rayo, Jonathan Vu. Judges Awards: Historical Paper - Mekhi Jones. Individual Exhibit - Jaylyn Martinez.
