Katelyn Brazer Aceves proudly serves as President of the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education, representing Trustee Area 4. A first-generation college graduate and lifelong advocate for educational equity, she is deeply committed to ensuring that every student in Santa Ana has access to high-quality educational opportunities, strong systems of support, and pathways to long-term success.

With over a decade of experience working at the intersection of education, community engagement, and public service, Katelyn brings a collaborative and student-centered approach to leadership. She currently serves as a Community Resource Specialist with the Orange County Department of Education at Sunburst Youth Academy, where she leads family engagement initiatives that connect students and families with critical supports through workshops, partnerships, and coordinated services.

Katelyn’s professional background includes serving as the Orange County Regional Coordinator for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), where she led community-based initiatives in partnership with school districts, staff, students, and families. She has dedicated her career to advancing meaningful community representation in local governance, supporting immigrant families, and expanding equitable access to education, health, and social services.

As a Board member and now Board President, Katelyn has helped lead efforts to strengthen early literacy, expand student mental health services, support immigrant families through comprehensive District initiatives, and advance English language development and proficiency. She is committed to transparent governance, strong community partnerships, and policies that center the needs of students, families, and educators.

In addition to her role on the Board, Katelyn has held leadership roles on countywide initiatives, including serving as the inaugural Chair of the Orange County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.

Katelyn is proud to serve the Santa Ana community and remains committed to advancing a school system where every student is supported, valued, and empowered to succeed in a culture grounded in inclusion and belonging.
