As a Valley High School alumna, it has been a dream come true for me to work with Valley staff, students, and parents. Growing up in Santa Ana, I attended Diamond Elementary, Carr Intermediate, and Valley High School. I headed to UCLA to earn my Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Education. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Education.
I started my teaching career in 2002 at Leuzinger High School in Los Angeles County and loved every moment of it. However, I had always wanted to come back home to give back to the community that helped raise me. Serendipitously, I was hired in 2015 to work as a Literacy Coach at Valley High School. By 2017, I became one of Valley’s Assistant Principals. Indeed, it felt like a wonderful gift.
Standing on the shoulders of giants, I am forever grateful for the compassion and wisdom from all my teachers and mentors. I work every day to convey the same virtues to students, staff, and community members.
Education is not the filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire.
- William Butler Yeats
