• Day 1 for 12 Falcons

I first stepped on the Valley campus in 1998, when I was placed here as a student teacher. I have been lucky enough to have spent my entire career in education at Valley! During those years, I have served as a social science teacher, a program coordinator, and an assistant principal. Whatever my role has been, I have been fortunate to work with our students in order to help them grow into amazing adults with the talents and skills necessary to be successful in life after high school.

Outside of school, I enjoy exploring the world we live in, mainly at a very slow pace. Over the past few years I have completed over 1,500 miles of what I call "purposeful walking." In 2015, I walked the California coastline from Malibu to Mexico (200 miles over the entire year). In 2016, I walked the Camino de Santiago from France to the Spanish coast (500 miles over 35 days). In 2017-2018, a group of 8 of us (mostly Valley staff members) walked the L.A. Loop, comprised of as many stairways as possible (over 300 miles around LA County). The summer of 2019 took me back to the Camino to lead a group of 21 of us (16 with direct ties to Valley, including teachers, counselors, and recent graduates) for the 500 miles across Spain.

I encourage everyone to keep learning and exploring as they go through life. There's so much out there to discover!
